Thinking of remodeling your bathroom? Don't forget these tidbits

by Anita Finn 11/06/2022

Home improvement projects often fall into three categories: bathrooms, kitchens and enhancements for curb appeal. While each of these has its importance to increasing the resale value of your home, many basic elements and features are often overlooked, such as the information gathering phase.

Here are a couple of quick reminders to jump into before you drop even a few hundred dollars on your bathroom project.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost & what’s the ROI?

A complete bathroom remodel or renovation costs anywhere between $2,500 for a small bathroom or average bathrooms with moderate updates, to $25,000 for larger bathrooms or bathrooms with more in-depth requirements. If you happen to have an expansive or luxury bathroom, you may see price tags between $30,000 and $50,000 for a full overhaul.

Taking on bathroom home improvement projects, however, can give you nice returns on your investment (ROI) of around 60% to 65%. Modernizing areas such as the wall tiles, floor tile, bathroom layout, shower enclosures and other essential facets can start the drive to increasing your home’s resale value.

You may also want to ensure the existing plumbing and electrical systems are up to spec as well, as to not detract from any efforts you’re putting in to upgrading your home

What else is all the rage in bathroom projects?

Your bathroom remodeling project doesn’t have to stop with bathroom fixtures or a walk-in shower. In fact, a few other nice-to-haves are heated floors, glass doors and stylized marble countertops for a distinguished aesthetic. You may also want to try adding a modernized medicine cabinet or free-standing tub if you want to go for a more rustic feel.

Regardless of your stylistic choice, be sure to incorporate some elbow room for occupants of your bathroom when they opt to use it, or you may have more of a bath closet instead of an entire room.

Bathroom remodeling ideas can start anywhere, but these basics will help you get more in touch with what your remodeling goals are and how you can begin the process of bringing them into your bathroom design.
